SLAA 2024 Board of Directors
Kathleen Kelly, President
I am a photographer and graphic designer. I joined SLAA in 2017. I joined to meet other local artists and to make new friends as I was new to the area. At my first meeting I offered my design services and was asked to come to the board meeting later in the month to introduce myself. I was immediately invited to join the board and now I am president! It is my pleasure to be a part of this great group of artists and to be able to help move the association forward.
Deborah “Cricket” Gallegos, Recording Secretary
Acrylic Painting, Ceramic’s and Fine Jewelry
I have been a Jeweler, Artist for 40 years. Later I became a Real Estate Professional before retiring 5 years ago, so now I spend more time on my art and Poetry. Born in San Francisco and currently living in Hayward.
My paintings are inspired by my ornamental detail to the Jewelry arts and my Spiritual Journeys. My Spiritual expression leads me to my compositions. I am currently exploring the “Colorist” style pioneered by Gauguin. Using color more freely than the actual color of objects gives me more freedom. I love being in nature and capturing faces and expressions.
I have exhibited in 1 other online show, Sun Gallery, Snappy Café, San Leandro Library, San Leandro Senior Center and Hayward Senior Center. Winning first prize for a still life from the San Leandro Art Association made me very proud.

Gladys Frantz, Board Member
Art is a path to wonder, joy, discovery, as we learn in life. As a school teacher and working with teachers as well, I have observed children going through this path in their way through learning. I used art in the classroom to make learning joyful.
I enjoy drawing and oil painting and appreciate many other forms of art . My favorite themes are flowers, fruits, and nature scenes. I’m always amazed at the boundless beauty around us. Lots to paint and recreate! I have been an art learner always. I learned from my art teachers and from my art friends.I attend classes by artists I admire. Practice any art or skill is the way to get better.
I’m pleased to belong to the SLAA as it provides multiple opportunities for members to network and to learn from the monthly demonstrations.
Thank you.
