Mural Painting as a Group by Joe Lopez
Completed
September 21 at ArtFest, 10am-4pm
Main Library Plaza
300 Estudillo Ave
San LeandroParticipants will be learning my process on how to build up a mural from start to finish. Using acrylic paints and brushes as our tools, we will go over the basics of how to properly coat layers, blend colors, and use the right techniques to get solid clean lines and corners. We will also go over how I came up with the concept design for the mural and how I put it together from sketch to wall.
I’ve always loved the idea of learning things hands on, so my hope is that they feel excited and more confident in bringing their ideas to life using what they learned and are able to express themselves through their own art. Knowing that feeling of satisfaction after completing a mural is a great feeling that I think everyone should have!

Zentangle Method for Adults 18+
Completed
Saturday, May 11th, from Noon-3pm
at the San Leandro Main Library.
Zentangle was developed 20 years ago as a form of sketching that incorporates meditation into your drawing. It’s easy to learn, relaxing, and a fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns, known as tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These patterns are drawn on small pieces of paper called "tiles." As you complete multiple tiles, you can assemble them into mosaics. -
Oil Pastel and Watercolor for Students Grades 1-5
Completed
June 18, 10am-1pm
Marina Community Center
15301 Wicks Boulevard
San LeandroHave fun creating your own garden scenes of flowers, insects and whatever your imagination wants to bring to your garden. Use oil pastels to draw your garden scene and use one watercolor color to complete Part 1 of a diptych (pronounced dip-tic) and another color to complete Part 2 of the diptych.. A diptych is artwork that consists of two separate pieces that together create a single art piece. Did I say only one color at a time? Yes, only one, but there are so many versions of one color that you will learn to make. Your diptych creations will be exhibited with the creations of your fellow workshop friends in a beautiful rainbow presentation. You will, of course, be able to take your own diptych home.
