Established in 1957, SLAA continues to support local artists in creative growth

Monthly meetings are open to the public

The San Leandro Art Association holds their monthly meetings and demonstrations at the San Leandro Main Library at 300 Estudillo Ave., in the Karp Room. The meetings, which start at 5:30pm on the second Tuesday of the month, are free and open to the public. The first part of the meeting is a social time for members and guests to mingle. There is a short meeting which goes over updates about the association, announcements about local art shows and more. Before the demonstration starts, at approximately 6:30, current members may display a piece of art for the Artist of the Month contest. A vote is taken and the winner receives a small cash award and ribbon. Each month the association invites an artist to present a demonstration of their art form. These demonstrations range from painting techniques to uses of clay. The demos last about an hour and a half.
